More about Film Impact Georgia (from their website):
The Idea: Film Impact Georgia is a nonprofit that is uniquely dedicated to using our strength, reputations and actions to help provide voice to those making independent films in Georgia. Georgia’s industry anchor, Atlanta for so long has been known as “the city too busy to hate”. What we don’t want to do however, is ignore that we come from many different walks of life, racial backgrounds, socio-economic groups, religions, and points of view. There is strength in our differences but we must not forget that everyone’s personal experiences are different. The opportunities are not the same. We want to make sure that the people that are making films here in Georgia, get to say what they need and also more importantly, the opportunity to also be a working part of the change and growth that is happening.
The Impact: Film Impact Georgia will raise grant money for short films created in Georgia that are inclusive in some way, whether it is in front or behind the camera or simply in the stories they are telling. This grant will never need to be paid back and is simply the investment that we are making in the future of Georgia content.
We want to connect filmmakers with vendors and mentors, while helping them polish their skills in packaging projects, talking about their projects in a way that investors and sales agents understand while also being prepared and ready for opportunity when it comes.
We want to host events that get entrepreneurs, artists, government, filmmakers, musicians and developers in one room to discuss our successes as an industry and help guide the way for educated conversation that helps create value in supporting local. We want to cross the divides and break down barriers.
More than anything we want the people that are creating local content and are our voices and representation of the colorful stories that Georgia has to offer, to get to be a part of the process that is building the long lasting infrastructure here.
